Gallery of the Islamic World features Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan‘s classic recording of ‘Allah Hoo Allah Hoo’ from Love & Devotion has been included as part of the audio guide of the new Gallery of the Islamic World at the British Museum.
The collection comprises a broad and diverse spectrum of the material culture produced from the seventh century to the present day in the Islamic world, and is displayed across two magnificent refurbished galleries at the heart of the museum. Included are well-known masterpieces of Islamic art and the objects of the everyday, ranging from archaeology, coins, shadow puppets, traditional textiles and dress, to the arts of the book and contemporary art.
The magnificent Albukhary Foundation Gallery of the Islamic World is the result of several years of planning and detailed research, in collaboration with colleagues both inside and outside the Museum. The aim has been to rethink how the Islamic world could be displayed to present the collection in new and exciting ways for our visitors, and to show the cultural diversity of this vast region.
